Swine flu hits the Bitterroot

A growing number of swine flu cases have been confirmed in the Bitterroot Valley. Technically referred to as H1N1 flu, it is, according to Ravalli County Public Health Nurse Judy Griffin, the only type of flu currently affecting people in the valley. More...

Stirring the steaming cauldron of apple butter which was later put in jars and sold to the public was one of the premium jobs for volunteers at the 30th annual Apple Day in Hamilton. By all accounts, this year's event was the coldest ever, but that didn't stop the community from showing up to support the Ravalli County Museum and get a jump on holiday gift shopping. The apple signs pictured below were made by folk artist Cora Mae Bloom. Dried flower arrangements were offered by The Scented Garden and Greenhouse. Municipal elections by mail ballot only

The municipal elections for open positions in Hamilton, Darby, Pinesdale, and Stevensville are being conducted by mail ballot only. Ballots will be mailed to eligible registered voters today, October 14, 2009 and completed ballots must be returned by mail or in person and received (not just postmarked) by the County Election Administrator by 8 p.m. on November 3, 2009.
