FWP declines to enter Mitchell Slough case

The Montana Department of Fish Wildlife and Parks (FWP) has filed a brief in the court case pending between the Bitterroot River Protection Association, Inc. (BRPA) and the Bitterroot Conservation District (BCD) over Mitchell Slough. FWP tells the Court that it is not inclined to join the case and doesn't believe that it should be forced to join as the BRPA has requested.More...

Hamilton Budgets and Grants Officer resigns

The City of Hamilton's Budget and Grants Officer, Dale Huhtanen, made his resignation final last week and he will be off the City payroll at the end of the month. Huhtanen turned in a resignation announcement previously but then asked that it be tabled as he assessed City Council procedures. He was critical of newly elected City Council members and claims in his recently released resignation announcement it is due to the disorganization and dysfunction brought on by three newly elected council members who came on the council "with vendettas, causes, hatred towards government - which does not make for a good council." Hand grenade found in Stevi storage unit

Stevensville City Police, with cooperation from the Ravalli County Sheriff's Office and the Missoula Department of Explosives Unit (Bomb Squad), recently removed a "homemade" hand grenade from a storage locker on Main Street in Stevensville and arrested the suspected owner of the device, Stevensville resident Charles (Chuck) Douglas Hopper.
