Commissioners get the nitty-gritty on ‘soils of local importance’

Soils that are good for farming should be protected and conserved, but not all soil classifications should be used in the subdivision review process, a team of three soil scientists told the Ravalli County commissioners Thursday.

10th St. easement one step closer

National Guard approval paves way for eventual hospital access upgrade

The Montana National Guard has given the city of Hamilton approval for an easement along 10th Street, which marks a crucial step toward upgrading the primary access to Marcus Daly Memorial Hospital.

But for final ruling on the easement, the city must apply to the Montana Land Board, which must review easements through state lands, said Hamilton Mayor Jessica Randazzo. More...

Variances denied

Developers say subdivision proposals will be radically altered

The Ravalli County Commissioners recently denied two requests for variances from the county’s Subdivision Regulations. The denial of the variances essentially precludes the two associated subdivision proposals as well. The two subdivision proposals involved were Morado Mountain Estates (59 lots on 165 acres) and Sandhill Ridge (35 lots on 65 acres) in the upper Eight Mile area. More...
